   Ewloe Castle

   
Ewloe castle was built in 1257 by Llywelyn ap Gruffyd, Prince of Wales amongst woodland at Ewloe in North Wales. It fell into the hand of the English following Edward I's first Welsh War and was abandoned soon after Edward I's conquest of Wales in 1284.
